Perinatal Psychology at Adelaide Hills O&G

Perinatal psychology is a subfield of psychology that focuses on the emotional and psychological well-being of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Perinatal psychologists work with women who are experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological issues related to pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment to motherhood.

Our perinatal psychologist Angie uses a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy, to help women manage their emotions and improve their overall well-being.

Perinatal psychology can be an important resource for women who are struggling with the emotional and psychological challenges of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It can help women to develop coping skills, improve their relationships, and feel more confident and capable as mothers.

Our psychologist Angie has a particular interest in lifestyle approaches to mental health and well being, and integrates lifestyle considerations into her work with clients.

You do not need a referral to see our psychologist but many women chose to access a mental health care plan through their GP so that medicare can provide them with a rebate.

Many private health insurance policies also contribute to psychology sessions.
