Quick access hysteroscopy

When you’re dealing with abnormal bleeding or concerning symptoms, waiting weeks or months for answers can be stressful. Our Quick Access Hysteroscopy Service is designed to shorten that waiting time and get you clear answers — sooner.

What is a hysteroscopy?

A hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows your gynaecologist to look directly inside the uterus using a small camera. It is usually performed under anaesthetic at a Hospital. It’s commonly used to investigate symptoms such as:

  • Abnormal or heavy bleeding

  • Bleeding between periods

  • Post-menopausal bleeding

  • Abnormal ultrasound findings (such as polyps or thickened lining)

If required, tissue samples (biopsies) or polyps can often be treated at the same time.

Why timing matters

When a hysteroscopy includes a biopsy, that tissue is sent to pathology (histology). The sooner this happens, the sooner answers are available.
Reducing delays matters because:

  • It shortens the time spent waiting and worrying

  • It allows earlier reassurance when results are benign

  • It enables prompt treatment planning if further care is needed

Our quick access model is built around minimising the time from referral to diagnosis.
